Lightning and Switching Surge Analysis of Transmission Lines

This analysis is accomplished using ATP time domain transient analysis software. This software has been in constant use and upgraded constantly for over 30 years and is used and taught in universities worldwide. Typical analysis involves the calculation of outage rates with and without arresters using the existing line and tower configurations. Suggestions are made on how to improve outage rates and how to mount the arresters. The analysis can be done for any existing or proposed line. Only minor input data is required. The analysis can take from 1 to many days depending on the number of configurations and available data.
